Welcome

Now you can see how we help...

And how you can help too!

A local not for profit organisation to help and benefit local people

What we do…

Animal assisted therapy and animal assisted interventions are the use of specially selected and trained animals to benefit the health and wellbeing of a range of people from many hard to reach and vulnerable groups.

Many physiological and psychological benefits have been proven from the study of the human-companion animal bond. From reducing anxiety levels of institutionalised patients, encouraging expressions of emotions and cognitive stimulation, reducing blood pressure, promoting relaxation and offering social and emotional support. It also has educational and motivational benefits for participants.

We have great results in care homes and dementia wards where patients can suffer from decreased physical functioning, apathy, depression, loneliness and sometimes troubling behaviours. The visits of animals and their handler can promote them to be active mentally and physically.

Another focus we have involves integrating our services with local schools and colleges who work with adults and children with learning difficulties and disabilities. We can incorporate the health and wellbeing benefits alongside education in a truly engaging way that we have found can sometime benefit the most hard to reach students.

Our aims

...............................

‘Animals Improving Lives’ is focused on providing a valuable and pioneering therapeutic experience for the hardest to reach members of our community. Usually something out of reach for most organisations, we aim to offer this service where it is needed most FREE of charge.

Where do we work?

...............................

Some of the hard to reach and vulnerable groups we provide animal therapy and interventions for come from:

Care homes, nursing homes, long-term care and dementia wards

Schools and colleges that have students with learning disabilities

Mental health hospitals and facilities

Hospices & Hospitals

And many more…

We want to be part of our community’s health and well-being programs. With your help everyone can benefit.
